Jim Donnelly

Biography:

Jim has made an outstanding contribution to the Society since the early days and was the driving force behind the First Conference in Newcastle. He served on the NSW Branch Committee and is a Life Member. His service is listed below: 

NSW Committee:

  • 11 years on the Committee – in 1969-70 to 1970-71 and then 1977-78 to 1986-87
  • 2 years as Chairman –  19681-82 and 1982-83
  • 2 years as Secretary –  1969-70 and 1970-71 

Conference Committees:

  • 2 Local Organising Committees, including the benchmark First Australian Coal Preparation Conference in Newcastle in 1981. 

Technical:

  • While Branch Chairman, First Introductory Textbook was produced.
  • Lecturer at Introductory and Advanced Coal Preparation Courses.
  • Author of the first edition of Dewatering textbook, part of the Advanced Coal Preparation Monograph series

 

Jim started his working career at the BHP Newcastle Steelworks washery and then worked for a number of engineering companies supplying CHPPs. After working at TPM Moura and for the Peko-Wallsend Coal Division, Jim started his own engineering consultancy, James C Donnelly & Associates.
