Geoff served on the New South Wales Branch Committee and was active in the life of the Society. His service is listed below:

• 6 years on the Committee – 1977-78 until 1982-83

• Local Organising Committee for Second Australian Coal Preparation Congress
• Chairman Technical Subcommittee for Second Australian Coal Preparation Congress 

Geoff has worked for BHP Central Research Laboratories and the Joint Coal Board.
